When you arrive we will meet & greet with you to touch base on what size gator you're after and which weapons you'll be using. Our hunts normally start out between 9-10a.m. unless otherwise scheduled to take place earlier/later. After going over the details of the hunt and getting each participants waiver signed, we then head out to do a spot-and-stalk type hunt. Once we find the size gator you‘re after we use offshore sized fishing rods to hook the gator and fight it up to the bank. From there on out it is up to you to finish up and collect your trophy by using a rifle handgun, bow, etc. When the hunt is finished we take plenty of pictures, bring the kills to our processing facility, and discuss how much meat you can expect and what style mount you desire.
We recommend wearing a lightweight short or long sleeve shirt, close-toed shoes, and long pants. but we leave it totally up to you to wear what you feel you will be most comfortable in. It's not necessary to wear camoflauge, but some hunters do feel more confident doing so just to be on the safe side. Or we will usually wear earth toned colors - green, brown, black, or beige colored shirts. If you are sensitive to the sun we recommend wearing a hat, as well as sunscreen or bug spray.
All hunters are required to have an Alligator Farming Agents license to hunt alligators in Florida. Licenses are available for purchase at www.myfwc.com or in our local Walmart at the outdoor sections counter located in Labelle for $51.50, regardless of residency. Anyone wishing to hunt alligators needs to have one of these two licenses. Youth (ages 15 and younger) are exempt from having to have an alligator farming agents license. Those possessing a Florida Resident Persons with Disabilities Hunting and Fishing License are exempt from the cost of an agent license but must still have one to assist in hunting alligators.
If people in your party/group are not going to participate in the hunt, they do not need any license or permit. All spectators are welcome to come along on your Townsend & Sons hunt free of charge. However, if they are 16 years old or older and would like to help you hunt alligators, they will also need to purchase the $51.50 Alligator Farming Agent License. Youth, ages 15 and younger, do not need an Agent License to assist in Alligator hunting.
